Two years ago Jeff and I were in Scottsdale attending a wedding when we got the call from our dear friends that their 4 year old girl, Grace, had been diagnosed with Leukemia. My heart broke that day. In tears, I prayed without ceasing that weekend but the road that lie ahead for Grace was to be a long and difficult one. She would be diagnosed with one of the rarest forms of Leukemia and her little body would have to undergo intense chemotherapy, followed by lots of sickness, weakness and pain. She would lose all of her beautiful curls. She would be isolated for long periods of time in Children’s Hospital away from her home. She would not be able to go to school. She would not be able to come to church. But through it all, she would remain strong. Hopeful. Faithful. Determined. Her family would be a rock for her. This week, Grace came out the other side as the doctors declared her cancer free. We celebrated Grace and her family on Sunday with a cake and lots of candles. So thankful for her life and God’s mercy.
