Jeff’s sermon this Sunday, the second part of his “On a Mission” series, focused on God’s mission. That mission is to rescue people and ultimately renew all of creation that they may enjoy His presence and live the way He intended from the beginning. Jeff focused on three motivations people have to take part in God’s mission. Those being, the blessing of God’s provision, the honor of God’s assignment and the power of God’s Spirit. Overall the message was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do as the Church. When Jesus called his disciples he said “come follow me and I will make you fishers of men”, He did not say “come follow me and I will make you a Christian” or come follow me and I will make you perfect”. He said I will make you fishers of men because those particular disciples were fisherman by vocation and they understood the analogy perfectly. The analogy still holds true today to each of us in our respective vocations around the world. God has carved out a space for you. A space in time, a space in a particular neighborhood, a space in a particular work environment for the purpose of sharing the evidence of Him in your life with those around you. I felt this was not unlike my little space here on the web, where I can share my story with all who will listen. May each of us be faithful in sharing our stories this week with those who are yearning to hear them.
