Jeff’s “Off the Wall” sermon series continued yesterday with Live. You can listen to the full sermon here. It was all about what it means to live abundantly as Jesus promised when He said “I came that you might have life and life more abundantly”. In short, to live abundantly is to maximize the life God has given us by overcoming evil with good and serving others by His power. Living a life of service is the secret to abundant living. Jesus said “to be the greatest, be a servant”. When we choose to serve others, we find our souls being filled. Serving others is not limited to soup kitchens and homeless shelters but extends to our daily environments- our workplaces, our schools, our homes, our communities. When we take the initiative to serve others whether it be simply by bringing cookies or writing a note of encouragement or praying for them, it can change the entire atmosphere.
“For we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works”- Ephesians 2:10
God created us in His image. Expressing God’s love to other people is the way we bring glory to God. We express God’s love to others when we serve them.
Lord, fill me with your Spirit so that what comes out of me in this world is you.
