VCAA Baseball

Balloon LaunchA few weeks ago, one of the baseball Dads in Luke’s little league came down with Strep throat. It quickly led to pneumonia and he passed away very suddenly.  He was young and left behind a wife and two young children. It was so sad.  Last Saturday, Luke’s team played the little boy’s team whose Dad had died.  As a gesture of solidarity, after the game, the two teams took part in a balloon launch.  It was a beautiful moment and I felt happy to be part of such a caring community.

{the teams pray before every game}Balloon LaunchBracelets VCAA had bracelets made for all the kids and their families to wear at each game and dedicated the rest of the season’s games to his memory.  The bracelets bear the following inscriptions in addition to his name:

2 Corinthians 5:1 which is a reference to this verse of scripture which brings so much hope: “For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

Romans 14:7-8 references this scripture: “For not one of us lives for himself and not one dies for himself for if we live, we live for the Lord and if we die, we die for the Lord, therefore whether we live or die we are the Lord’s.”
