Women’s Mini Retreat

Last weekend we hosted a mini retreat at my church to benefit a local battered women’s shelter. My prayer was to reach out to hurting women and provide a spiritual respite for them if only for a morning. That they might experience God. That they would know they are not alone. Reaching deep into the recesses of my childhood memories to draw on my own experiences in a shelter for abused women and children, I was able to share my redemptive story with many struggling to look beyond their current pain and fear. A few of the women told me afterwards that they were so glad they came and that they were so thankful that I shared my story. We had a wonderful time of prayer, worship and sharing. Many were crying throughout our time together and I pray that they will each be able to experience God’s redemptive power as I have.

{We offered a free banquet complete with fine china we found from thrift stores}

{one of the women in my church hand-made teacup candles as favors for everyone to take home}

{The same woman also hand made journals for everyone to use throughout the retreat}
